September is family beach month here at our studio! We love doing beach portraits all year round, but this month has always been the perfect mix of the "not too hot, not too cold" for photography at the beach. It's also a great month to play around with two different looks; either spring/summer beach or fall beach! There is so much that goes into getting that perfect family portrait that we talk about EVERYTHING. From location, time, clothing, the kids, you name it! But in the end it is so worth all the time and energy spent. 

This particular family we have been dying to share because not only were they the best to work with, but their images turned out simply STUNNING. Drum roll please....

Of course living in Virginia Beach, portraits at the beach are always a popular option. We have even had families that were in the process of moving call us up and say they wanted their last family portrait in Virginia Beach to be at the beach. Someone once described it as taking a little piece of "home" with them. This particular session we did down at the north end in Virginia Beach, and man did we luck out on the sky that day! 

Can we just talk about how precious these faces are?! So much personality and energy was brought to the session by these two that it made capturing something extra special for mom and a dad a breeze. 

Speaking of mom and dad, how beautiful are they?! No matter how big or small the family may be, or how long or short of a time two people have been together, we ALWAYS do couple's portraits. We believe it is so important to capture the love that two people share, and remember the start of where your family ultimately began. 

Play with color! Your clothing should always be something that you are 1- comfortable in and 2- shows personality and style. We L O V E D the color palette these guys went with. The softness of the pastel pink and mint was beautiful against their beach location!

And finally, displaying your images and portrait delivery day. Portraits are one of the biggest things that turn a house into a home. Your images should fill the walls in your home reminding you every day what matter most- your family!

Spring is just around the corner here in Virginia Beach! If you couldn't already feel the excitement in the air for spring, now you will. Back by popular demand, The Forrest Gallery Studio of Fine Photography is excited to announce the return of our beloved children's portrait session- Bunny Days!

These sessions have always been one of our most popular children's portrait session themes and one of our favorites as well. The bunnies are anxiously awaiting their time with your little ones! We encourage you to schedule as early as possible, as there are a limited number of sessions.

These sessions will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday- March 23-25th and will be 15-30 min each depending. Sessions fees will be $50 for one child, each additional child will be $10. We are donating all session fees to CHKD. Portraits themselves are additional and our packages for this will start at $149.

Happy spring everyone! March is always an exciting time for us as it marks the beginning of warmer months, but it's also the start of our busiest time of year. We love our family sessions at the beach and in our portrait garden for so many reasons. We always enjoy being down at the oceanfront or chicks beach and photographing families because its such a big part of living here in Hampton Roads. We have had many clients that have had to move away, but before they did, they wanted their final family photo session to be at the beach. Someone once said it was their way of taking a little piece of Hampton Roads with them, and we think that is truly something to be treasured!
